Testing Requirements for Red Belt (2nd Gup)

Time Requirements
The student should have trained as a Brown Belt for a minimum of 3 months and have attended 21 classes.

Teaching Requirements
The student must log 16 hours of time assisting the instructors in teaching to junior students demonstrating their knowledge of basic technique thoroughly.

Form
Bassai (29 Movements) – Bassai is Japanese in origin and is practiced in Tae Kwon Do and Tang Soo Do as well as many Japanese and Okinawan Karate styles.  Bassai is also known as Balsek.  Bassai is often translated as “to break down the fortress”.  The Korean Pronunciation of the characters that make up Bassai is “Patsai”.

Toi-Gye, Hwa-Rang  and Choong-Moo will also be tested.

Basic Techniques

  1. Jump Turning Heel Kick
  2. (FS) Forward:  Triple Punch
  3. (FS) Backward:  High Block, Front Kick, Reverse Punch
  4. (FtS) Back Fist, Sliding Hook Kick
  5. (FS) Back Fist, Defensive Side Kick

Sparring
Free Sparring against one opponent

Self-Defense Techniques
Ho Sin Sool – Free Form Self-Defense against ten attacks of the student’s choice.

Breaking
1-Boards with a turning Kick
