Testing Requirements for Sr. Brown Belt (3rd Gup)

Time Requirements
The student should have trained as a Brown Belt for a minimum of 3 months and have attended 21 classes.

Teaching Requirements
The student must log 12 hours of time assisting the instructors in teaching to junior students demonstrating their knowledge of basic technique thoroughly.

Form
Chul-Gi (37 Movements) – Chul-Gi literally means Iron Horse and stresses techniques performed in a horse stance.  Chul-Gi is Japanese in origin and practiced by many martial arts styles.  Chul-gi is known as Naihanchi in Okinawan Karate and as Tekki in Shotokan Karate.

Chon-Ji, Dan-Gun and Do-San will also be tested.

Basic Techniques

  1. (FtS) Jump Turning Back Kick
  2. (FtS) Inside Crescent Kick, Sliding Slide Kick
  3. (SLC) Front Kick, Round Kick
  4. (FS) Forward:  Arb Chiji, Elbow Strike, Back Fist
  5. (FS) Backward:  Sudo, Front Kick, Spear Hand

Sparring
Free Sparring against one opponent

Self-Defense Techniques
Ho Sin Sool – Free Form Self-Defense against five random attacks:

  1. Punch
  2. Front Kick
  3. Same Side Wrist Grab.
  4. Choke
  5. Round House Kick

Breaking
2-Boards with a Front, Round House or Hook Kick
