Jason Thomas, 6th Dan, Chief Instructor

Jason Thomas is a 6th Dan Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and a 1st Dan Black Belt in Shotokan Karate-Do.  Mr. Thomas has been training in the Martial Arts for over 20 years and is the President of the Kom Do Kwan Mr. Thomas spent 9 years in the US Army, serving in both the Military Police Corps and the Military Intelligence Corps assigned to elite units such as the 10th Mountain Division.  Mr. Thomas taught martial arts  to US Service men at Military Recreation Centers at Ft. McClellan, AL, the Presidio of Monterrey, CA,  Ft. Drum, NY, and Kelly Air Force Base, TX and trained in Korea several times while on temporary duty assignment.

Mr. Thomas is a member of several well known marital arts organizations such as the Kom Do Kwan the Amateur Athletic Union's (AAU)  National Tae Kwon Do Program, the International Shotokan Karate Federation (ISKF), Japanese Karate Association (JKA),  and serves on the Board of Directors of the United Martial Arts Society (UMAS).

Mr. Thomas holds an MBA, Bachelor’s Degrees in Linguistics and Business Information Systems and is a graduate of the Defense Language Institute, Foreign Language Center at the Presidio of Monterrey California. 

Chad Johnson, 2nd Dan, Primary Instructor

Chad Johnson began his martial arts training at 12 years of age in Tae Kwon Do, Moo Duk Kwan.  He then continued his martial arts studies with Shotokan Karate (1st Kyu) in New Orleans where he studied under Master Takayuki Mikami along side of Mr. Thomas. After moving to Austin, in 2000, he began studying under Mr. Thomas in Tae Kwon Do, Kom Do Kwan. 
He holds a BA in Philosophy and English from Clarion University of PA.
 
He is excited to have this opportunity to share what he has learned.

 

Brandon Maloney, 1st Dan, Assistant Instructor

Brandon Maloney started Tae Kwon Do training at the beginning of 2004 and began to help teach junior students at the rank of green belt.  Brandon especially gifted in performing high kicks and specialty breaking techniques.

As a young teenage black belt, Brandon is especially popular with the younger students and a great role model.

The Kom Do Kwan  is a Martial Arts Organization designed to bring together quality Traditional Tae Kwon Do Schools for purpose of brotherhood, strength and unity.  Kom Do Kwan™ schools have a sincere interest in being an active part of of a larger organization in order to network with other schools for the purpose of sharing knowledge and preserving the Traditional Martial Arts.
  The Amateur Athletic Union's (AAU) National Tae Kwon Do Program is designed to promote the Art of Tae Kwon Do in the United States.  The organization is comprised of  practitioners of all the recognized pattern/form sets form both traditional and Olympic focused schools.  The AAU Taekwondo Program has over 13,000 members and more than 1,000 AAU Black Belts that have been certified through the AAU Taekwondo Program. In addition to Tae Kwon Do, the AAU supports Tang Soo Do, Karate, Hapkido and Kung-Fu.


The United Martial Arts Society (UMAS) is dedicated to the preservation of the traditional values of Martial Arts such as: courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self control, indomitable spirit; with the goal of promoting martial arts focusing on self defense, self confidence, physical fitness, mental conditioning, stress management, and self discipline.  The Guiding principles of the United Martial Arts Society are a policy of non-commercialism and support of the individual instructor.  The UMAS supports Tae Kwon Do, Karate, Hapkido and Kung-Fu.
